A delightfully fun and charming love story, "Almost Maine" will be presented by Costa Mesa High School Drama Dept on April 19, 20@7PM and April 21@2 PM and 7 PM. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
On a cold, clear, moonless night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the sky above, Almost’s residents find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts are broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend--almost--in this delightful midwinter dream.
The author, John Cariani, grew up in Presque Isle, Maine. In 1996, he moved to New York City to pursue an acting career. He began doing little play-readings on the side. All of the plays were full of these ugly characters that were cheating on their wives and husbands, doing drugs, murdering people and Cariani began to miss the life and love of the people of Maine. He wanted to write a story about good people, doing good things, caught up in the midst of love and all that it entails. And that is the genesis behind “Almost, Maine” one of the most widely produced plays in America.
