There are few people on this campus that know what Pegasus is, partly because this would be the fourth year of not publishing it. For those of you not in the know, Pegasus is a literary journal composed of photos, poems, drawings, and short stories submitted by students of Costa Mesa High School. Run as a club and distributed for free, Pegasus ended in 2009 after being printed but never given to the public.
Fast forward to 2011, when the Hitching Post, along with print in general, is dying, and the government is slashing arts funding like the lumberjack in Hoodwinked. The executive decision is made to transfer the Publications class to another teacher and period to try and resurrect the program. Part of this resurrection involves bringing back Pegasus.
As you can see, our publications are now online! This decision was made to help journalism enter the twenty first century and stay relevant. The same goes for Pegasus, and I am happy to report that now we will also be showcasing digital media art as well. We are now accepting submissions of poems, short stories, photographs, songs, movies, drawings, comics, and digital art. Our goal is to create an artistic environment that showcases the art CMHS in one central location.
So, if you want to publish your work, submit it to Pegasus@cmhsnews.com. We can’t wait to hear from you.
