One Direction. I'm sure we've all heard of this overly played pop boy band, because, well, they're everywhere! But are they really worth all the hype? Recently the boys played three shows (9/11-9/13) at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena as a part of their “Where We Are” stadium world tour. Since we are huge fans, we decided we would not only go once, but twice to the show. So, we got lucky enough to go both on Friday and on Saturday.
Now, getting to the stadium was a nightmare of course. Keep in mind that this stadium could hold 90,000+ people, so there was bound to be some heavy traffic. But once we got there, it was well worth the wait.
The atmosphere was great; anyone who isn’t a 1D fan would definitely still feel all the fun vibes and positivity radiating off of people as you walked closer and closer to the entrance of the Rose Bowl and inside. It was quite crowded, and the heat was not helping at all. But, security kept it controlled and tried to help as much as they could with everything.
Walking into the stadium, we looked around and were amazed by the amount of people who were there. Keep in mind, we were alone, but making friends at a concert filled with teenage girls and some boys even is definitely not hard. So, it was no big deal really. The opening act, 5 Seconds of Summer, an Australian band who had also supported 1D on their last tour, came on stage and they put on a great show! There was so much energy and adrenaline, no one could wait any longer for the 1D boys.
Many Mesa students attended the boys big such as: Emily Olvera, sophomore and Melissa Folkerts, Senior. Melissa says, "It was amazing as a whole with the lights, graphics, and fireworks. They really know how to put on a show. Plus they're cute and have lovely voices!”. Emily Olvera says, "The One Direction concert was so amazing and I had a great time! Already made plans for next year's concert! "
One Direction came on and everyone had the time of their lives, including us. They definitely make you feel like you're their best friend and you’ll be laughing so many times throughout the whole show. Even if you don't like them very much, it is such an energetic and fun show. You will most likely find yourself mumbling the words or dancing along to “What Makes You Beautiful." The concert is filled with big lights and several fireworks -- the fun you'll have is inevitable.
Overall, a One Direction concert does definitely not disappoint, even if you're not a super fan. Harry, Zayn, Niall, Liam and Louis only being four years into this whole experience, know for sure what they need to do in order to make every show fun and memorable, for anyone. I would say that a One Direction concert is definitely worth it. They know how to make each and every audience member feel special.
