Dr. D'Agostino mentions that the Rustler's Club is, "Something I've wanted to start ever since I got here, and now that I'm in my third year at Mesa, I now have the time to be able to focus on these kinds of things." With the help of dads from Mesa and other dads from other schools, Mr. D'Agostino believes that they can make a difference at school as well as in children’s lives at home. "The idea is for us to build a community, to get more parents involved, especially dads, in helping beautify the campus and bring families together."
Some parents attended the meeting for the first time and seemed to agree with the ideas that other parents suggested. One of the parents that attended the meeting for the first time said, "I liked the ideas they had to motivate the students. It's good so that the parents become more involved so that the kids know that we dedicate time to them as well so that they are motivated to do well in their studies and in their future."
After the meeting, some parents and students were asking amongst themselves what a "Rustler" was. Dr. D'Agostino and the other members of the club thought that it was a good name for the club since it had "The whole Mustang-Cowboy theme". According to Dr. D'Agostino, a rustler is "someone who stirs up other individuals to do something," and that's what the purpose of the club is.
The next Rustler's Club meeting is yet to be determined. It has been announced by Dr. D'Agostino that they will set up the next schedule very soon. The meetings will probably only take place once a month.
