Denny and Alvarez had just come back to their hotel after hitting the gym and were having trouble opening their hotel room door. They went down to the lobby to try and get it fixed when they saw a man running with a backpack. The cashier had given the robber the money, but yelled for help as he was getting away. Denny and Alvarez rushed in and used their years of martial arts training to catch the robber and hold him down until the authorities came. The man, Luis Rosales, was found with a 9-mm pistol and the money that he had stolen from the hotel in his backpack.
Alvarez runs a martial arts gym in Eugene, California called Twisted Web MMA, which has gained dozens, if not hundreds, of new members ever since the daring act of the two masters. Their Facebook page has received hundreds of comments since the event giving them praise. MMA fighters all over the country have been sending them their Thank You’s for giving the sport a good name.
