Thursday’s lunch event was the Roaring Competition, in which members of Homecoming Court competed for the loudest roar. The audience consisted of 20 to 25 people who were mostly ASB members. The winner of the competition was decided by the audience who surrounded the contestants. Selena Arreola and Kody Kolina were given the title of champions by the audience. Justin Smith was ranked second place. Irvin Martinez, a senior, witnessed the competition and said, “It was kind of a weird event”.
The event on Friday was called “Catwalks”, in which the freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior Princess and Princesses showed off their best walk. The freshman, sophomores, and juniors only had one prince and one princess each while the seniors had several. Among the many were Kody Kolina, Angel Jesudasen, Selena Arreola, Justin Velasquez, and Wyatt Ferris. Eric Vu, a junior, had the most cheers because of his walk, but was not the winner. Wyatt Ferris was the last contestant and the winner of this competition. He won the audience over with his cat-like style that began with crawling 3 meters forward and ended with a backwards scratch towards the direction of the announcer.
Irvin Martinez also saw the Friday’s lunch event and said, “I don’t think the students really participate in the events”. The tight circle of Thursday’s event seemed to block viewers stationed at the dome. An anonymous witness of both lunch events said, “This one [Friday’s event] was better than the other one [Thursday’s event]. It was easier to see and kind of funny. I didn’t say who won because they wouldn’t hear me.”
