The Pony Express Middle School Staff

The Pony Express was a section of The Hitching Post that focused on middle school issues.  After the digital transformation of the paper to The Equestrian, The Pony Express was kept relevant by the efforts of Maya Lee-Lopez (class of 2015) and Niki Stanborough. Today it is led by it's first middle school editor, Holly Reiland. We meet almost every day in Mr. Abuel's room at lunch, even though the real meeting days are on Monday and Thursday.

Holly is the first middle school editor of the Pony Express. She likes reading and writing. She could never live without her dog Chief. She likes food, especially dried mango and cherries. She is also the ASB secretary and the vice president of MESA club.

The Writer

Karlee Kistler
Karlee is in eighth grade and is probably one of the most responsible writers of the Ponies. She loves to eat and can do some really crazy things! It is very likely she would win the Hunger Games. She seems to always be laughing.

The Photographer

Sarah Bordelon
Sarah is the main photographer Pony. She loves taking pictures, but would like to be a make up artist when she grows up. She also is always following the latest fashions and eating healthy green foods she makes with her blender.

The Interviewer

Makena Seal
Makena is one of the first members of The Pony Express and she loves it dearly. In addition to being a Pony, she is the ASB Vice President, plays soccer and volleyball, and sometimes goes to Christian club. She loves wearing different colored shoes and big sweatshirts. She comes up with some of the craziest story ideas!

The Other Writer

Cassidy Crandall
Cassidy is definitely the funniest and most awkward member of the Pony Express. She always makes us laugh. She would like to be a CEO when she grows up and hopes to go to Stanford. Cassidy is also in ASB (as the Community Service Commissioner) and in charge of fundraising in the MESA club. She also likes boxing. Her friends are a main part of her social life, as well as Instagram. She likes to try new things and make a joke out of everything.
