As the game began, both teams played competitively. Throughout the eight minutes in the first quarter, the Mustangs were able to score 16 to the Argonaut’s 6. Mesa had one foul and Garden Grove had three.
As the second quarter began, the fight between the two teams was apparent. Both teams fought for each rebound and successfully crashed the boards. Jordan Walden scored several 3 point shots. During this quarter, Mesa was able to score another 10 points to accelerate the score to 26 and Garden Grove scored 11, bringing their score to 17. Mustangs had 3 more fouls and Argonauts had another 3
In the 4th quarter, as the clock winded down, Garden Grove fouled the Mustangs to save time and take the Mustangs chance at the free throw line. Unfortunately for them, Nick Dawson scored the last two points of the game with his free throws, making the final score 52-41. Overall the game was very fast paced as players ran to both sides of the court during each possession. The game was very physical, as referees blew their whistles constantly to the game sending players to the free throw line. The Mustangs’ next home game is against the Godinez Grizzlies on January 11th.
