Some of the stars that made their appearance in this film included Ashton Kutcher, whom we all know used to host the show Punk'd and replaced Charlie Sheen in Two and a Half Men; Zac Efron, who previously starred in many other movies such as High School Musical; and Robert De Niro, who is famous for playing a role in the movie Godfather Part II.
In one of the character plots, Ashton Kutcher (starring as a character named Randy) is trapped in a broken-down elevator with a girl named Elise (who is played by Lea Michele). Feelings erupt as both characters unfold the contents of their lives to one another. At New York Times Square, after making arrangements for the ball drop, disaster strikes as an electric panel malfunctions and prohibits the New Year's Eve celebration from beginning. Character Claire Morgan is then forced to reconsider rehiring someone whom she has laid off in the past. Music singer, Jensen (who is played by Jon Bon Jovi), rekindles his feelings for his ex-girlfriend Laura (played by Katherine Heigl) as both former lovers struggle with the old memories of love and betrayal. These three plots are but only a few of the many stories compiled inside
The movie, New Year's Eve, did not have a single plotline and was rather intended to focus on all of the characters' situations. Due to the amount of plots that I had to keep track of, I would occasionally forget about the other characters until they appeared back on screen. Another down point for me was the fact that sometimes the characters would say a "cheesy" line which would make me groan mentally for fear that I would disrupt the other viewers.
All in all this movie did not spark a tremendous impact on me, but seeing how it was a romantic comedy and how I do not favor the genre, I would say that I am surprised that it was entertaining enough that i did not fall asleep midway through the storyline. So in other words, New Year's Eve has succeeded in managing to keep me reasonably interested throughout the whole movie. If you are a fan of love, then I would halfway recommend it, but if not, then I would suggest the new Sherlock Holmes movie.
