This time around, Paranormal Activity went back to the roots of how all the possessions and hauntings began. It shows the sisters, Katie and Kristi, from the first and second movies, as young girls living with their mother, Julie, and her boyfriend, Dennis, in 1988. Strange things start to happen when Kristi starts talking to her imaginary friend, Toby. Dennis decides to investigate and sets up cameras around the house. He finds much more than he expected and soon things start to get dangerous.
I find it hard to believe that in all three movies there just happened to be cameras capturing all the activity, all the time. Some parts were comical, even when they weren't supposed to be. I couldn't take the babysitter in the 80's costume seriously. After a while you get frustrated when Julie, the mom, won't believe her boyfriend or her daughters when they try to tell her what has been happening. Even so, the movie was still quite frightening and had me at the edge of my seat a few times. I found Paranormal Activity 2 to be my hands down favorite out of the three, which isn’t saying much for the other two. Overall, on a grading scale I would give it a C+.
