Mrs. Gilboe has done it again. Another Sounds of the Season concert was a success. The concert began with a stellar performance by the CMHS Colorguard. They wore Santa hats while dancing to a song called "Baby its Cold Outside." After their routine, Mrs. Gilboe introduced the Beginning band. The instrumentalists then played songs including "B.B First Concert," "Up on the Housetop," "Feliz Navidad," "Beethoven's Ninth" ("Ode to Joy"), and "We Wish You a Merry Christmas."
The Intermediate Band was ready to play. They played songs including "Fanfare for a Holiday Celebration," "Name that Christmas Carol," "Little Saint Nick," "Christmas Swings" ("Jingle Bell Rock"), and "Bell Carol Rock." There were three soloists in "Little Saint Nick": Troy Ozuna on flute, Liam Cavanaugh on trumpet, and Seth Bonin on violin. These students have done a great job improving their skills on their instrument of choice.
The Advanced band then came out to deliver a stellar performance. Since they are also the Marching Band, they played a few songs from their field show. The theme was "Emerald City" which included sections from The Wizard of Oz, The Wiz, and Wicked. Once they finished, they played "Locked Out of Heaven," "Everybody Talks," the UCLA fight song, "Caribbean Christmas," "Santa Does Dixie," and lastly "Sleigh Ride." According to Mrs. Gilboe, it is a tradition to have her son, Remy, to conduct "Sleigh Ride." Band members from previous years came back to play and assisted Mrs. Gilboe with teaching Marching Band the fundamentals. Once the concert came to an end, the band members were praised for their accomplishment.
