Stage Door is about an actress named Terry Randall (Adriana Rodriguez) who is living in a boarding house for actresses. Along with spending time with her roommates Jean Maitland and Kaye Hamilton (Selena Arreola and Rachel Russel), she tries to get herself parts in plays in Hollywood, California. Along the way, she meets Keith Burgess (Chris Byers) a young, Hollywood director and David Kingsley (Eduardo Villegas) an older movie producer.
The first day of auditions is the day everyone is given their lines that they will have to read the next day. Kathy Paladino, the school’s play director, explains to the participants who each of the characters are and what kind of personalities they have. She then takes the rest of the time to let people practice their parts or ask more questions about the play itself.
The next day is considered the real audition. The students auditioning are required to read at least one of the scenes they were given with another student in front of Paladino and the other actors. Each person was given the opportunity to perform once more after everyone else had gone.
On the Wednesday after, a list of the auditioners and their corresponding parts were on the Lyceum wall. Not everyone was able to get a part, but the musical, known for having a lot of parts, will be holding auditions after the current play is over.
