True to its preceding reputation, solo night was once again a hit. It took place at Harbor Trinity Church on Monday night.
“I actually didn’t expect this many people. I’m really excited about it,” commented performer Melissa Folkerts.
At the door, guests were asked to make a donation to gain entrance, and the proceeds were given to Stop Hunger Now--an organization which prepares and sends meals to children in Africa.
The seats were filled, and the crowd thrummed with excitement as the opening act, Selena Arreola, performed an acoustic version of Jason Mraz’s I Won’t Give Up. The applause after each act was thunderous, and the crowd was in a very good humor. Performers included Kate Piatti, Hayley Smith, Ciara Rudas, Melissa Folkerts, Christine Tfaye, Chris Byers, Evan Stechauner, Semeria Anderson, Adriana Rodriguez, and many others. The songs ranged from soulful and moving to upbeat and raunchy. In the middle of the show, Mr. Lindfors performed "Giants in the Sky", pleasantly surprising the audience. The final performance was by Drake Martinez, whose sing/dance combination of Psy’s hit song Gangnam Style elicited a few laughs from the crowd.
At the end of the night it was announced that that the money raised would be enough for one thousand and twenty five meals to be made for children who may only have one meal a day.
“To me, it’s always more than I expected it to be,” said Mr. Lindfors, “I think it was great to see students sing, and especially to bring out their full passion.”
