Mr. Milchiker is the new business teacher. It is his first year teaching at Costa Mesa High School. Mr. Milchiker saw an ad at the school district about an opening for a high school business. He was interested because it was something that he can get involved in and share his experience with.
Mr. M. has over 30 years of experience in the business world. He owned a corporation of real estate property management, which he recently turned over to a younger staff. He still checks on them every once in a while.
He has also taught various business classes at multiple colleges and schools such as OCC, Saddleback, and Chapman. He cannot wait to share his extensive experience with students.
When we asked him how he feels about replacing the popular teacher Mr. Sciacca, he said “it is a tough position to step into.” He has only met him once so he doesn’t know exactly who he is, but he sure hears a lot of good things about him. He also said, “everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses,” so he doesn’t think he can be the same as him.
He has a different personality and a different way of doing things. He said he can probably bring more things than Mr. Sciacca did, but they both have the same goal, which is to work with students and get them as far as they can, hopefully win nationals. He really likes the idea of Virtual Enterprise class, though.
He said, “It is very practical and if students put in the time for it, they will learn a lot from it.” It is a unique class and is not available for all the students. He said it is a great experience and will help the students in their future. Because he was a softball coach for more than 15 years he thinks he can bring a competitive edge to the team also.
So, Mr. M just has it all. He has the business experience that is needed for this class, the competitive edge for it, and of course he has the students who are very excited and eager to start this great experience.
