The dance took place on Friday, September 19th in the lower quad. Students ranging from freshmen to seniors lined up outside the gates all dressed to their own theme awaiting the loud music and flashing lights that were inside. Upon arrival each student received a glow stick.
The entire night the music was raging and the DJ was yelling encouraging phrases to the crowd.
Senior Alexis Lomeli says, “The DJ was okay. The people are what made it memorable and it was definitely a last first high school dance that I never want to forget.”
Throughout the night multiple ‘dance circles’ were started. Crowds gathered around a hollow center, giving savvy studea platform to show off their moves.
Students knew coming into the dance that ‘inappropriate dancing’ is not to be permitted. Although this policy has not been strict as of late, administration seemed to be more diligent at this year's back to school dance. Students not in accordance with this rule were warned by administration. However, that didn’t stop anyone from having a great time.
As dancing isn’t for everyone, some people came just to watch the excitement. Many students sat on the benches off to the side at first, but by the end of the dance everyone was out on the dance floor.
“I never expected high school dances to be so awesome! There was so much energy and you could tell that everyone was having a great time”, says freshman Brenna Boeru.
By the end of the night, students had trouble leaving the dance floor.
The back to school dance was a total kick off to a great start of the year. Overall it seemed everyone had a great time and is looking forward to the homecoming dance in October.
