Few had expected to fare this well, the Lancer course was a runner’s nightmare; muddy, littered with potholes, tree roots, and even some dead wildlife.
Jennifer Daley, CMHS’s fastest girl of the meet said, "Truthfully, I thought that I was going much slower than usual; I was expecting a bad time, especially since the course was horrible. But when I came across the finish line and heard 19:52, I couldn't believe it. It still hasn't hit me yet, but now I'm really looking forward to seeing what else I can do."
It was revealed after the meet that the course was actually 2.9 miles, not the regulation 3 miles. This was the first year that the meet was held, and the looping structure of the course created the lost distance.
Notable at the meet was the performance of Robert Blackwell, receiving 5th place overall, despite running against CIF Division 1 and 2 schools.
