Despite the rain, the supporters of the boys’ polo team still stayed and cheered them on. The boy’s started the game leading 4-1 in the first quarter. By the end of second quarter they were at a lead of 9-3. Mesa started the first quarter very successfully, and with only a few minutes left in the quarter they scored their 12th goal with Estancia at 4. Mesa’s benches erupted with school spirit cheers every time there was a goal. By the end of the 3rd quarter they had put a gap between the scores, ending the quarter 15-5. By the fourth quarter the rain had gotten much worse but the players still ended the game 20-7.
Many of the players were very happy with the outcome of the came of the game and believed the game was an encouragement for future games.Although he believed they did very well varsity polo player, Trent Teague, stated that “I think we did very well, but there were some easy goals me missed, but we did very good looking at the score difference. Overall I believe we still have places to improve.”
Their coach stated the boys did an amazing job, but afterwards voiced, “I always think that there is always room for improvement, but I’m very happy with the outcome today, and happy that we kept the bell.”
The CMHS boy’s polo team has kept the bell for 28 games. Estancia has only kept it 3 out of the 31 games they have played.
Varsity Polo player Mathew Brown believes that, “We will be successful in the games to come, as long as we work together as a team!”
